Introduction to APOBA Guides

Building a new organ for your congregation, concert hall, or personal use is a big deal! Even the most dedicated person can reach a point of despair, overwhelmed by the decisions that have to be made, the costs involved, and the time invested.

Don't go it alone! Our friendly builders understand how important your project is to you. Their experience and expertise can help you realize the organ you always wanted. Whether you are struggling with raising the necessary capital, creating an appropriate architectural space, or uniting your committee (or congregation) around a vision, we've been there and we can help.

We have produced several publications that provide a platform from which you can start your project. They include:

  • Guide to Purchasing a Pipe Organ: An overview of everything you need to keep in mind when starting your organ building project. An excellent resource for people who have never been involved in building an organ!
  • Planning Space for Pipe Organs - An Architect's Guide: This booklet is intended to aid in planning for the installation of a pipe organ. It answers questions often asked regarding basic components, placement of the organ, and technical requirements. We encourage establishing a dialogue between architect and organ builder. This communication from the earliest stages is vital to the success of the project. Any high quality organ builder will be glad to assist in the design phases.
  • Ten Steps to the Successful Funding of a New Pipe Organ: The acquisition of organ funds is a major project for most churches, and the task often reveals unfounded fears. Will the organ drive be successful? Can we raise this amount of money? What will we do if we fail to reach our goal? Are we taking on more of a challenge than we should? Will the organ fund draw contributions away from regular church support? Ten Steps clarifies the activities required for a successful campaign, and it provides instructions on how to organize and implement an effective fundraising plan.
